Terms of Service

The agreement between you and ChristTrade. Written in plain English on purpose.

Effective Date: August 1, 2026

First published: December 29, 2024

The short version

ChristTrade is a software tool, not a financial service. We provide charts, historical market data, a backtesting engine, a trade journal and a scripting environment. What you do with them is your business and your responsibility.

We are NOT:

Nothing on ChristTrade is a recommendation to buy or sell anything. No content, chart, backtest result, metric or feature constitutes investment advice or an invitation to trade. Using ChristTrade does not create an advisory, fiduciary or brokerage relationship between you and us. Trading involves substantial risk, including total loss of capital. Every trading decision you make is yours alone.

1. Who you're contracting with

Carl Sterner, trading as ChristTrade

Sole trader (enskild firma) registered in Sweden

help@christtrade.com

ChristTrade is run by one person out of a home office, so the registered address and organisation number aren't published here. If you need them — for a formal complaint, a dispute, or any legitimate reason — email and ask, and you'll get them.

These Terms govern your use of christtrade.com and its subdomains (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use it. "We", "us" and "ChristTrade" mean the business named above — which is one person, not a company with a legal department.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or buy a subscription. You must also be legally allowed to use this kind of service where you live. If you're under 18, you may only use the free, logged-out parts of the site with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian.

3. Accounts

You can use much of ChristTrade without an account. Creating one — with email and password, or with Discord — lets you sync your work and, if you subscribe, unlocks Pro.

  • Give accurate information and keep your email address current.
  • Keep your credentials to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One account per person. Accounts are not transferable or shareable.
  • Tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised.

4. The free plan and Pro

Free is a real product, not a trial. It includes backtesting, the trade journal, the performance dashboard, the economic calendar and the community. We intend to keep it that way and we don't plan to move existing free features behind Pro.

Pro costs $7 USD per month and adds custom indicators and strategies, seconds and custom timeframes, cloud storage for your backtests and journals, and sync across devices. The current feature list is on the pricing page.

Features evolve. We may add, change or retire individual features as the product develops. If we remove something significant that Pro subscribers rely on, we'll give notice by email and you can cancel — see §9 and §13.

5. Payment, billing and renewal

  • Merchant of record. Payments are processed by Creem, who act as merchant of record and contractual reseller of the Pro subscription. In practice that means your purchase contract for the payment itself is with Creem, and Creem's Buyer Terms apply alongside these Terms. Creem also collects and remits applicable sales tax and VAT. Your card details go to Creem and never reach our servers. These Terms continue to govern your use of the Service itself.
  • Recurring subscription. Pro is a subscription. It renews automatically every month at $7 USD per month until you cancel. Each renewal charges the payment method on file.
  • Taxes. The price shown may be exclusive of VAT or local sales tax, which Creem adds at checkout based on your billing country. Checkout always shows the total before you pay.
  • Currency. Pricing is in US dollars. If your card is in another currency, your bank's conversion rate and any foreign-transaction fee are between you and your bank.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal fails, Pro features may be suspended until payment succeeds. We'll email you before cutting anything off.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account page. One click. No confirmation email, no retention flow, no "are you sure you want to lose all your progress" dark pattern. If that ever stops being true, it's a bug — email us.

Cancelling from your ChristTrade account page stops future renewals and keeps your Pro features active until the end of the period you've already paid for. After that the account reverts to Free. Cancelling mid-period does not, by itself, entitle you to a partial refund of that period — but see §7, which is more generous than that sounds.

You can also cancel from Creem's customer portal, but be aware that cancelling there may take effect immediately rather than at the end of the period. If you want to use the time you've already paid for, cancel from your ChristTrade account page instead.

7. Refunds and your right to withdraw

14-day refund, no questions asked. If you're within 14 days of your first payment and Pro isn't for you, you get all of it back. You don't have to explain yourself and we won't try to talk you out of it.

How to actually get one. Because Creem is the merchant of record, Creem issues the refund, not us — we're not able to move money back to your card ourselves. Either route works:

  • Email help@christtrade.com and we'll approve it and put the request through to Creem, or
  • Request it directly through Creem's customer portal or support, using the receipt Creem emailed you.

Either way the money goes back to your original payment method, normally within 5–10 business days once Creem processes it. Please don't open a bank chargeback before asking — it costs everyone more and we'd have just said yes.

If you're a consumer in the EU/EEA you also have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on distance contracts under Directive 2011/83/EU (in Sweden, lagen om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler), which Creem's Buyer Terms reflect. Because Pro gives you immediate access to digital content and services, that statutory right can in principle be waived once performance begins — but we don't rely on that waiver, and we grant the 14 days regardless. Whichever right is better for you is the one that applies.

Beyond the 14-day window we don't refund periods that have already run. If a payment on your account was fraudulent or clearly a mistake, tell us and we'll sort it out regardless of the window.

8. Price changes and the founding rate

If we change the price of Pro, we'll email existing subscribers at least 30 days before it applies to them. A price change never takes effect mid-period, and you can always cancel before it does. No surprise hikes.

Founding Supporter rate. If you subscribe to Pro before ChristTrade reaches 70 active Pro members, your rate stays at $7 USD per month for as long as your subscription stays continuously active, even if the standard price rises. To be precise about what that means:

  • The lock applies to the base subscription price only. It does not cover VAT, sales tax, or currency-conversion and bank fees, which are outside our control.
  • It lasts as long as the subscription is continuously active. If you cancel or let it lapse and later resubscribe, you resubscribe at the then-current price.
  • It applies to the Pro plan. If Pro is ever discontinued entirely, or replaced by a materially different plan, the lock can't survive a plan that no longer exists — but we'd give notice under §13 first.
  • The Founding Supporter badge on your account is cosmetic and carries no further entitlement.

9. Futures data, and other things we've said we want to build

We've said publicly that we intend to turn on futures data for Pro subscribers, at no extra charge, once ChristTrade reaches 70 active Pro members. We mean it, and the whole point of the subscription is to pay for exactly that.

But we have to be straight with you: it is a stated intention, not a contractual guarantee, and it has no promised delivery date. It depends on reaching that number and on securing market-data licensing on terms a one-person project can actually afford — and exchange licensing is not something we fully control.

So: subscribe based on what Pro does today, not on what it might do later. Everything on the roadmap is an intention, not a commitment, and roadmaps change. If it becomes clear that futures data isn't going to happen, we'll say so plainly rather than let it sit on the page forever.

10. Market data

Market data on ChristTrade is historical and provided "as is". Cryptocurrency data originates from publicly published exchange data, currently Binance. It is then processed, compressed, resampled and aggregated by us, so what you see on a chart is our derived representation — not a raw exchange feed, and not an official record of what traded.

It may be delayed, incomplete, gap-filled, adjusted, revised or simply wrong. Binance and other exchange names and marks belong to their respective owners; their appearance identifies the origin of a dataset and does not imply any partnership with, endorsement by, or affiliation with them.

  • We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, timeliness or continued availability of any data.
  • Data is licensed to you for your own personal use within the Service. You may not scrape, bulk-download, resell, redistribute, sublicense or republish it, or use it to build a competing data product.
  • Third-party data providers may impose their own restrictions, and we may have to change, restrict or remove datasets if a provider's terms require it.
  • Symbols, instruments and history available on the Service can change without notice.

11. Your content, and code you write

Your content stays yours. Journal entries, notes, screenshots, strategies and indicators you write — we claim no ownership of any of it.

You grant us only the narrow licence we need to run the Service: to store, encrypt, transmit, back up and display your content back to you and to any device you sync it to. That licence exists to operate the product and for no other purpose. It ends when you delete the content or your account. We do not publish your content, sell it, or use it to train machine-learning models.

Code you write. Pro lets you write custom indicators and strategies and run them against historical data. That code is yours and it's your responsibility. We don't review it, we don't guarantee it does what you think it does, and we're not liable for its output or for decisions you make based on it. Don't run scripts from people you don't trust, and don't use the scripting environment to attack the Service, other users, or anyone else.

Keep your own copies. We back things up and we take it seriously, but no backup is perfect. Export anything you'd genuinely hate to lose.

12. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Try to break, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our infrastructure
  • Circumvent paywalls, entitlement checks, rate limits or usage restrictions
  • Scrape or bulk-download market data, or resell access to your account
  • Share, sell or rent your credentials, or use one Pro subscription to serve multiple people
  • Reverse-engineer or copy the Service to build a competing product, except where that right can't be excluded by law
  • Upload anything unlawful, malicious, or infringing someone else's rights
  • Use the Service to provide regulated financial advice to others, or to present its output as advice from a licensed professional

Genuine security research is welcome — please report what you find to help@christtrade.com before disclosing it, and don't touch other people's data while you're looking.

13. Community, and donations

The ChristTrade Discord is a community space run under Discord's own terms and community guidelines, plus whatever rules are posted in the server. Nothing posted there by us or by anyone else is financial advice, and we're not responsible for what other members say or do. We can remove anyone from the community at any time.

Cryptocurrency donations are voluntary gifts. They aren't a purchase, they buy no features, entitlements or Pro access, and — because crypto transactions can't be reversed — they are non-refundable.

14. Intellectual property

The Service — its code, design, branding, charts, documentation and content — belongs to ChristTrade or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. That's it: no other rights are granted, expressly or by implication. Third-party components remain under their own licences.

15. Availability

We try hard to keep the Service up, but it's run by one person and there is no uptime guarantee or service-level agreement. There will be maintenance, outages, bugs, and dependencies that fail on us. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service. If we ever shut down Pro entirely, we'll give subscribers reasonable notice and refund any period paid for but not delivered.

16. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

Backtests are simulations, not predictions. Historical and simulated results do not account for slippage, latency, liquidity, fees, spread, partial fills, order rejection or your own behaviour under pressure. A strategy that looks profitable in a backtest can and often does lose money in live markets. Past performance does not indicate or guarantee future results.

Consider speaking to a licensed financial professional before risking real money. We are not one, and nothing here is a substitute for one.

If you are a consumer, this section does not exclude warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded — including your statutory rights in respect of digital content and services under EU and Swedish consumer law.

17. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChristTrade is not liable for:

  • Trading or investment losses. Any financial loss from decisions you make, whether or not you used ChristTrade to reach them
  • Reliance on market data, backtest results, indicators, metrics or anything else the Service outputs
  • Loss or corruption of data, or service interruptions
  • Lost profits, lost opportunities, or indirect or consequential loss
  • The acts of third parties, including data providers and Discord

Where we are liable, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) EUR 100.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected by this section.

18. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time, cancel Pro from your account page, and request deletion of your account by emailing help@christtrade.com. We'll process deletion within 30 days. Self-service deletion is on the list; it isn't built yet.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, if your use threatens the Service or other users, or if we're legally required to. Except where the breach is serious or a delay would cause harm, we'll tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to fix it first. If we terminate a paid account other than for your breach, we'll refund the unused part of the current period.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Minor corrections get posted here with a new Effective Date. For changes that materially affect your rights or the price you pay, we'll email registered users at least 30 days in advance, and you can cancel before the change applies. Continued use after that means you accept the updated Terms.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Swedish law, and disputes fall to the Swedish courts, with Stockholms tingsrätt as the court of first instance.

If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in the country where you live, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your own country.

Before going anywhere near a court, please just email us — most things are a misunderstanding and get solved in one message. Swedish consumers can also take a dispute to Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN), and consumers elsewhere in the EU/EEA can contact their local European Consumer Centre. We'll take part in those processes.

21. Odds and ends

  • Severability: if a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the provision is read down to the minimum change needed to make it valid.
  • No waiver: not enforcing something once doesn't mean giving it up.
  • Assignment: you may not transfer your account or these Terms. We may transfer them if the business is sold, on notice to you.
  • Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us.
  • Language: these Terms are written in English, and the English version governs.

22. Contact

Questions, complaints, refunds, or anything at all — help@christtrade.com. A real person reads it, and usually answers faster than you'd expect.
